King Con Wrap-up

Last week I attended my first KingCon in Atlantic City, NJ. If you're on any social media platform, you've probably already seen pictures and have an idea of just how amazing the event was. But pictures can't really do justice to the wonderful experience it was.
I attend 15-20 events every year between conventions, library sales, bookstore signings, etc. and KingCon ranks as one of the most organized, well-run conventions I've visited. Kris Webster, Jacqueline Matyas, and all the folks associated with planning and hosting KingCon should be proud of what they've done.
I spent most of my time in the dealer room, signing and selling books...mostly Still Floating. But I had the chance to chat with old friends and make new ones along the way. Here are a few of the highlights...
Paul Michael Kane—who is an absolute joy to be around—pimped out his copy of Still Floating and turned it into a work of art.

Nat Cassidy is not just a great writer but also happens to be a super cool guy. It was a pleasure getting a few minutes to chat with him.

Jonathan Janz is also a talented writer and one of the nicest guys I know, and he apparently does not skip arm day at the gym!

John Campopiano, who directed Pennywise: The Story of IT, was a great table neighbor. He brought with him one of the five original Pennywise suits Tim Curry wore in the 1990 miniseries. I can't wait for John's Jaws-adjacent documentary coming out next year.

The "It Kids" who attended were all humble and friendly, and I had them each sign one of the interior drawings in my copy of Still Floating.

Side note: Marlon Taylor, who played young Mike, was a blast to hang out with. Also, seeing Jonathan Janz's face light up when I introduced them was a special moment.
Other highlights that I didn't get a chance to take pictures of...
Hanging out with Ron Malfi, Rebecca Rowland, and the folks from Park Books
Getting to meet Hans-Ake Lilja in person
Meeting Bret Donnan of Needful Kings
Chatting with Philip Fracassi
Buying a print from the wonderful and talented Kristen Bird
Spending time with Francois Vaillancourt (and being envious of the ever-present line at his table)
A surprise appearance by Rich and Billy Chizmar
I know I'm missing a lot of people and forgetting to mention a bunch of cool things that happened, but I think you get the picture: KingCon was incredible! I'm already looking forward to 2028...
