The first movie in Ti West's trilogy, "X" follows three couples to a remote farmhouse where they plan to make a porn movie. Set in 1979, this film captures the old-school tone to the point it's easy to believe the movie was made in the seventies.
Mia Goth, Jenna Urtega, and Brittany Snow are superb as the female leads. It's hard to say too much without giving something away, but this one has the same vibe as the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It's a little bit of a slow burn with some overdone cinematic shots, but the payoff is worth it.
I'm giving this one an A and plan on watvching the prequel, Pearl, next.
