Sometimes you have to go old school. I remember seeing this in my favorite movie theater, The Granada in Malden, when I was a kid. Since it came out in 1971 it must have been a second or third run...because surely I couldn't have gone when I was eight years old? Right?
Anyway, if Charlton Heston bouncing back and forth between shirtless and all hairy to sporting fashion straight out of the 1970 Sears catalog is your thing, this movie is for you. Safari jackets, jumpsuits, puffy sleeves, and smoking jackets, Heston quenches all of your thirsts. And did I mention he wears his watch with the face on the inside of his wrist? Badass motherfucker.
This is one of many films based on Richard Matheson's I Am Legend and not one of them has gotten it right. But will that stop me from digging up Vincent Price's The Last Man on Earth? Hell no.
I can't in good conscience recommend this one but it was a nice cringey trip down memory lane.
