Still Floating: 40 Years of Pennywise contributor Neil McRobert

Most people know Neil from his long-running "Talking Scared" podcast. I just checked, it debuted on September 1st, 2020 with guest Paul Tremblay. That's a lot of great horror talk! Neil recently put out the novel, Good Boy, which has been doing quite well and is on the top of my TBR pile.

Neil's entry in Still Floating, "The Bright Cameo of All We Were – Counterfeit Nostalgia & Stephen King’s IT" is a beautiful essay on memory and friendship. Oh, and how Neil stood up to a school bully...but you'll have to read it to find out how that story ends!

Neil's bio:

Neil McRobert is a writer, podcaster and recovering academic. He fled the haunted halls of higher education, to settle in a village in the north of England, where he writes about scary things and runs the landmark horror podcast, Talking Scared, on which he interviews the biggest and brightest creators in the field (including Stephen King himself, thrice!) He has written on dark culture for The Guardian, Vulture, Elle and Esquire, and in 2026 he published his debut novella, Good Boy with Wild Hunt Books. When Neil is not reading, writing, or talking horror, he's out in the fields with his beloved dog, Ted.
