Well, they're not all winners. The Aviary is the story of two women trying to escape a cult. In order to do this, they need to hike across several miles of the unforgiving New Mexico desert.
At first glance it looks like this is going to be one of those "stuck in a loop" movies where they keep ending up back where they started. Then it morphs into...something else. It's hard to determine between their paranoia and distrust of each other and what is just hallucinations.
The appearance of the cult leader in their visions does nothing to ratchet up the tension, as he's more of a run-of-the-mill psychologist or college professor type versus a scary, charismatic cult leader. Finally, there's a very predictable twist at the end.
I'm giving this a C only because of the strong performances by Lorenza Izzo and Malin Akerman. Hoping for a better selection on day two!
