Day 7 of the 2026 Halloween Horror Movie Marathon

After watching the 2021 reboot last night, I decided to rewatch the 2003 original. This one featured inbred cannibals closer to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes, and the homage to those films, the X-Files "Home" episode.

Eliza Dushku plays the lone female survivor, evidenced by the requisite white tank top, and Desmond Harrington (Dexter's Joey Quinn) plays her male counterpart. Overall, it's a very watchable film but doesn't really bring anything new to the genre. The twist at the end sets up a sequel and I was shocked to discover the franchise reached six movies, all straight to video I believe, and none that I feel compelled to watch. But the original is worth a watch for fans of the genre.
